Highly effective modulator therapy has transformed the health of many people with CF, but mental health side effects for adolescents and adults have been reported. In 2023, elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) was approved for use down to age 2 years. With ETI therapy now extended throughout childhood, there is a need to identify and manage potential mental health side effects for this age group. This SW/Psych discipline group session will focus on understanding mechanisms of psychosocial risk with ETI use, how mental health side effects may differ in childhood as compared to those in adolescent/young adulthood, and will review the latest research and best practices for screening and managing mental health side effects of ETI therapy in children with CF ages 2-11 years.
