In the era of highly effective modulators this session will take a look at the implications of CFTR modulators from several perspectives. We will discuss the risk of pancreatitis while on CFTR modulators and the effect of modulators on fecal elastase. Furthermore, we will look at the impacts of these modulators on the liver and nutritional implications for liver wellness.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the pathophysiology and mechanism of pancreatitis within CF and the potential risk of pancreatitis while on CFTR modulators.
  • Examine liver implications and liver wellness within the current era of CF, specifically with increasing and earlier CFTR modulator use.
  • Evaluate the role of fecal elastase and its significance in the era of CFTR modulators.
