PEP--Partnership Enhancement Program

The Partnership Enhancement Program, now in its 5th year, was developed by the CF Foundation in collaboration with the Academy of Communications in Healthcare alongside care providers, patients, and families in efforts to enhance communication and improve satisfaction in clinical encounters for patients, their families and care teams. There is heavy emphasis on coproduction of care plans and highlighting of effective interpersonal practices and skills. Didactic offerings will review literature supporting the theory behind investing time in our patients, with subsequent opportunities to implement skills with small group work. Strategies discussed are especially beneficial in handling difficult conversations and challenging situations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the components and evidence supporting communication skills as it specifically relates to the CF care experience.
  • Identify strategies for enhanced communication between clinical care teams and individuals with CF, with an empahsis on co-production of care, trust and setting goals.
  • Practice communication skills, receive guided feedback from small group facilitatotrs and create a simple plan to strengthen communication in your own team-based CF care setting.
