Ascension Seton, Dell Children’s Medical Group
Ferdinand Coste DO is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Dell Medical School, University of Texas and a pediatric pulmonologist, specializing in caring for children with a variety of respiratory conditions but with special interest in patients with asthma and cystic fibrosis. He has been in practice for over 10 years and has come to value the importance of a collaborative approach to patient care, providing attention not just to ensuring the correct diagnoses and treatments for his patients but to ensuring that the treatment plan is one which the patient is able to follow through upon. Honest, non-judgmental conversations regarding obstacles to daily care can often be as important to good health as state-of-the-art medications. This interest in collaborative practice led to his training from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in their Partnership Enhancement Program, designed to facilitate conversations and promote daily
care for individuals with cystic fibrosis. He is now a certified trainer for the program and shares the importance of bi-directional communication with other medical providers during sessions coordinated by the CF Foundation.
