W33--Impact of RT Education on Patient Care

This abstract based session will highlight educational processes with an emphasis on quality improvement. The abstracts will cover pediatric to adult transition improvement methods, home spirometry use and ways to increase contact between people with CF and respiratory therapists.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the impact of respiratory education on pediatric to adult transition programs and associated quality improvement efforts. Identify benefits and barriers to a structured approach for RT education in CF care clinic related to airway clearance therapies, and home spirometry
  • Discuss the methods and processes for implementing standardized airway clearance protocols and identify ways to increase the number of patient visits with respiratory therapists.Describe ways an RT can support CF patients in transition from peds to adult care.
  • Review use and methods for incorporating home spirometry as a monitioring tool in people with CF.Select approaches for success with RT education in patients self care.Compare outcomes when access to RT in CF clinic is reduced.
