The demographics of the CF population are changing with the advent of HEMT. Persons with CF are living longer and experiencing risk factors more commonly associated with aging, which includes cancer. Lung transplant recipients bear additional health risks related to chronic immunosuppression, which include malignancy. Persons with CF have known increased risk for colorectal cancer, while other cancer risk in the CF population is evolving. This workshop reviews abstracts dealing with implementation of established CFF guidelines for cancer screening, as well as identification of emerging areas of potential cancer risk in persons with CF. CF specific data outside of colorectal cancer is needed to properly screen for and identify malignancy within the CF population. Clinicians that are part of the CF care team may be the only identifying medical provider to alert them to need for screening, particularly given the low rate of primary care utilization among CF patients. In the changing landscape of CF care, the CF community requires updates on the latest screening recommendations, screening tools, labs and imaging. CF specific considerations will continue to develop as these issues emerge more frequently amongst the aging population of persons with CF.
