Considering the diverse practices of Respiratory and Physical Therapy in different regions, we aim to showcase key ongoing research with broad appeal.

This session will begin with a discussion to identify and review commonly used exercise outcome measures in Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Subsequently, two presentations will highlight validated outcome measures that correlate with pulmonary function testing or cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET).

Finally, we will explore the impact of elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) on real-world airway clearance technique (ACT) practices among CF patients. By understanding how patients are adapting their ACT routines, we can enhance patient education and optimize care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and Review exercise outcome measures that are used in CF, Debate the Validity of the A-step with respect to CPET Describe peripheral muscle testing and it's correlation to lung strength and pulmonary function.
  • Discuss the change in ACT frequency in patients on ETI.
  • Examine the impact that breathing control gaming can have on quality of ACT.
