This workshop will foster discussion on new research involving the development and physiology of CFTR-expressing cells with a spotlight on the rare CFTR-rich cell type called ionocytes, as well as discuss how this research informs therapeutic strategies for cystic fibrosis.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the developmental biology of CFTR-containing cells.
  • Discuss how different airway cell populations contribute to airway physiology.
  • Discuss the contribution of ionocytes to airway surface liquid formation.
