Ms. Yaling Yi is the Research Manager at the University of Iowa. She earned her master's degree in animal physiology from Northeast Agriculture University in China in 2001 and began her research on Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in 2006. In 2007, she was instrumental in creating the world’s first CF ferret model. Her research with this model has primarily focused on elucidating the role of CFTR in pancreas development and examining the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying pancreatic diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD) and pancreatitis.
Currently, her research is focused on investigating the mechanisms of pancreatic recovery and exploring the regeneration of pancreatic ductal and acinar cells through lineage tracing in genetic ferret models.
Ms. Yi has published over 76 scientific articles and abstracts. She is the first author of several seminal papers published in leading journals such as the Journal of Clinical Investigation, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Endocrinology, Journal of Cystic Fibrosis, and Pancreatology.
