Allyson Brown, MD, FAAP is a third-year pediatric pulmonary fellow at Children’s of Alabama/University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. She attended medical school at University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, FL, during which she published several poems and short stories exploring the challenges of medical training and practice. She completed her pediatric residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC where she was drawn to pulmonology through caring for her patients with complex medical needs. Her career and research interests including cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophies/neuromuscular respiratory insufficiency, and interventional bronchoscopy. Despite over a decade living in the South, Dr. Brown is a Pacific Northwesterner at heart, having grown up just south of Portland, OR. She enjoys hunting for agates on the Oregon Coast, cheering on her alma mater, the University of Southern California Trojans, in football, and reading just about any and every book she can get her hands on. She is looking forward to the next stage of her career as she completes her final year of training this year.
