Boston Children's Hospital
Matthew Schaefers Ph.D., is an assistant professor at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Schaefers's research program focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of bacterial pathogens that infect people with Cystic Fibrosis and the identification of novel therapies that inhibit the virulence of these pathogens. Dr. Schaefers earned his PhD from the University of Minnesota under the direction of Dr. Marnie Peterson. His thesis focused on the characterization of the interaction of Staphylococcal Superantigens with epithelial cells. Dr. Schaefers did a post-doc with Dr. Stuart Levy at Tufts Medical School before joining Dr. Gregory Priebe at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Schaefers was promoted to an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and then to Assistant Professor.
