Dr. Ozuna is a postdoctoral fellow at Emory University in the lab of Dr. Ben Kopp. Her current research focuses on the role that stress hormones play in CF pathogenesis, particularly macrophages functions such as phagocytosis. Dr. Ozuna research interests are the cross-talk of nutritional immunity and microbial endocrinology during an immune response. An original from Puerto Rico Dr. Ozuna obtained a bachelors in science in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Ana G. Méndez University in Puerto Rico. Following, she obtained a masters in science in Biology in 2014 at the Illinois State University. At University of Louisville Dr. Ozuna obtained a second masters in science and a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology. Currently, Dr. Ozuna is a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow, CF-Scholars Fellow and TL1 NIH training grant awardee. Fun facts about Dr. Ozuna are that she enjoys traveling, learning different languages. She’s obsessed with the color green and turtles. Loves hiking and outdoors with her chocolate Lab Vali and kitten Taco.
