Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
Matt Siefert earned his Master of Science in Zoology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After finishing his masters, he joined the Ziady Lab at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center where he is currently a senior research assistant and the lab manager. During his tenure in the Ziady Lab, Matt has assisted and conducted research focusing on the molecular underpinnings of progressive lung function decline in cystic fibrosis and chronic pulmonary diseases as well as determinants of efficient gene delivery to the lung. His research expertise has led to numerous oral presentations at regional and international conferences and multiple publications, including co-first authorship on a paper in the Journal of Clinical Investigation where he first described a dysfunction in Nrf2 regulation in cystic fibrosis cells that impacts inflammation and potentially other pathologies of the disease. More recently, Matts research focus has been on understanding how non-viral vectors interact with important disease target cells and explore ways of exploiting this knowledge to improve the application of non-viral vectors to human gene therapy.
