MC is a biotechnologist with a microbiology background. From 2017 (during his master’s degree), his research in the field of CF has been focused on the use of bacteriophages as alternative therapy, by studying their antimicrobial and immunomodulatory potential against Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in preclinical models, in particular on a CF zebrafish model. His research activity was carried out in the laboratory of Prof. Anna Pistocchi, at the University of Milan, as part of projects funded by Italian Cystic Fibrosis research foundation and currently he is PI of a 3-years project aiming at the development of a ex vivo CF model based on pig airways, for the study of biofilm infection to evaluate phage therapy. He is author of 16 peer-reviewed scientific papers (8 as First or co-first), h-index=9.
