Daniel Greenan is a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign that studies the ion channel properties of amphotericin B derivatives in the lab of Professor Martin D. Burke. His research focuses on studying how synthetic modifications to this molecular prosthetic affect its ability to replace the activity of biological channels like CFTR. He studies these derivatives through in vitro and ex vivo approaches that include electrophysiology, microbiology, and chemical biology techniques.
