Dr. Yonathan Fuchs is a pediatric transplant hepatologist and associate director of the CF center at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. The focus of his practice shifted from pediatric gastroenterology to liver disease at the midpoint of his career. Dr. Fuchs received his medical degree from Tel Aviv University in Israel and completed his pediatric residency training at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami. This was followed by a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New York. Dr. Fuchs started his clinical practice in GI in Valhalla, NY before joining a group at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Florida. His interest in liver disease and immunology led him to Stanford University where he completed a fellowship in transplant hepatology.
Dr. Fuchs’ interests include optimizing the care of children with chronic liver disease by improving access to pediatric liver transplant centers and revising organ allocation policies. Dr. Fuchs is collaborating with Dr. Michael Schilsky at Yale University on the Wilson Disease (WD) Registry. As a recipient of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s prestigious Developing Innovative Gastroenterology Training (DIGEST) award, Dr. Fuchs has secured additional training and funding needed to implement new quality improvement initiatives at Yale’s pediatric CF center.
