I am a consultant/attending respiratory and CF physician at the Northern Ireland Regional Adult CF Centre and a Professor of Respiratory Medicine in the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast. My main clinical research focus is to optimise response to established and new therapies with a pharmaceutical-sponsored research program. I also lead an active clinical and lab based investigator-initiated program that focuses on, inflammation, an -omic analysis of pulmonary exacerbations, and non-pulmonary complications of CF. I am the European lead of the CAR-CF study, which explores COVID antibodies in CF. It has recruited around 3,000 pwCF to date. I am the immediate past Director of the European CF Society – Clinical Trial Network (CTN) (www.ecfs.eu/ctn) which consists of 57 CF research centres located in 17 European countries.
