Dr. Gabriela Tupayachi is an Assistant Professor of Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Miami University Miller School of Medicine, where she leads the University Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center and the Therapeutic Development Center (TDC) where groundbreaking trials in CF are executed. With 10 years of experience in the field, Dr. Tupayachi has dedicated her career to caring for adult patients with CF, non-CF bronchiectasis, and non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM).
Dr. Tupayachi earned her medical degree in Peru, her residency and fellowship at the University of Miami, and started her CF career at the CF Center at the University of Kentucky. Her research has focused on the compassionate use of modulators based on theratyping results, as well as the use of bacteriophage therapy for refractory NTM infections and most recently CVS screening for people with CF. Dr. Tupayachi serves on different CFF committees, including the Women in Academic Medicine in CF and the TDN Protocol Review Committee, and she is a reviewer for scientific journals.
