Dr. Alexandra S. Piotrowski-Daspit, Ph.D. (she/her) is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Internal Medicine – Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan. She trained as a chemical/biological engineer and has expertise in developing polymeric biomaterials for therapeutic delivery, primarily in the context of cystic fibrosis. Dr. Piotrowski-Daspit is the Principal Investigator of a diverse and interdisciplinary research group. Using high-throughput in vivo studies and computational pharmacokinetic models, her translational research program focuses on understanding how delivery vehicles behave in the body as well as developing strategies to influence biodistribution and optimize gene delivery to target tissues and cell types. To complement her research, Dr. Piotrowski-Daspit is committed to teaching and mentoring the next generation of scientists and leading diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
