Emory/Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
Vivek K. Shenoy, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Gastroenterology at Emory University. He has a longstanding interest in pancreatic disease and Cystic Fibrosis, and is a current awardee of the Developing Innovative GastroEnterology Specialty Training (DIGEST) grant. At his previous position at the University of North Carolina, he joined an ongoing project to monitor the fecal elastase levels of pancreatic insufficient pediatric patients on CFTR modulators. The results of this were published in 2023 in the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis (PMID 37758535) and suggested conversion to pancreatic sufficiency in 15/70 children with CF. He also assisted in the development of a protocol to allow these potentially pancreatic sufficient patients to wean off of Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapy (PERT). He plans to continue clinical investigation of the effects of CFTR modulator therapy on pancreatic function as both new modulators become available and as current modulators become eligible at younger ages.
