University of Texas Health Sciences Center - San Antonio
Donna Beth Willey-Courand MD, Professor of Pediatrics, Pulmonary Division, University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) . I completed my pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1995 and pediatric pulmonary fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1998.. Following my training in pediatric pulmonology at Massachusetts General Hospital, I joined the faculty of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) in 1998 and assumed leadership of the Cystic Fibrosis Center at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital in 1999. I served as the Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center from August of 1999 through September 2013.During that time, I established a robust clinical research program funded by a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Clinical Research Facilitation Award 2006-2008 and a Therapeutic Development Network grant 2009-2012. I served as the local PI on numerous CFF sponsored clinical trials as detailed below. Because of the termination of the clinical practice agreement between CHRISTUS Santa Rosa and UTHSCSA in 2013, I departed CHRISTUS Cystic Fibrosis Center in 2013. The UTHSCSA Department of Pediatric clinical practice moved to University Health System in October 2013, and I transitioned my CF clinical practice to the Robert B. Green Clinical Pavilion (RBG)/University Hospital and developed an Cystic Fibrosis Center. The Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Program was accredited in 2024 and the adult program in 2017. I have served on several guidelines committee for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and currently serve as a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Center Committee and the Director of the New Program Director Mentorship Program.
