Sumedha Ghate, MS, CGC, Genetic Counselor, St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, WI - Medical Genetics and Cystic Fibrosis Center

Sumedha received her Bachelor of Science (BS) in genetics at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She completed her Master of Science (MS) in genetic counseling from Sarah Lawrence College, New York. She has been a genetic counselor at St. Vincent Hospital, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, since 1996. She joined the multidisciplinary team at the Hemophilia Outreach Center in 2011. Sumedha enjoys the opportunity to provide genetic counseling services to individuals in a variety of settings including prenatal, pediatric and adult medical genetics clinic, cancer genetics, and as a genetic counselor integrated into the cystic fibrosis center for 20+ years.

Her years of experience as a genetic counselor with expertise in genetic analysis and patient centered care are beneficial when presented with the challenge of explaining complex genetic information in a way that is personally meaningful and empowering to the individual or family. While she enjoys all aspects of genetic counseling, working with the families and staff in the CF center is her passion.
