Tanja Gonska is an Associate Professor at the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, University of Toronto with a subspecialty focus on pediatric pancreas diseases and Cystic Fibrosis. She holds an appointment at the Research Institute of the Hospital for Sick Children as Senior Associate Scientist and is cross-appointed at the Institute of Medical Science, St. Micheal's Hospital and Department of Physiology, University of Toronto Dr. Gonska has dedicated her academic career to advance the field in Pediatric Pancreatology and Cystic Fibrosis as a translational researcher. She has enjoyed mentorship by Profs. Peter Durie, Christine Bear and Paul Quinton. In respect to her clinical research, Dr. Gonska conducts clinical and translational studies to elucidate the causes for gastrointestinal symptoms in CF that persists despite CFTR modulator treatment. She is involved in an international consortium to advance the knowledge in pediatric pancreatitis, where she takes the lead in autoimmune pancreatitis and CFTR-related pancreatitis research. In respect to her translational research, She is focused on transepithelial ion and fluid transport in human airway and intestinal tissue. Her innovative approach to develop new measures of functional outcome supports current strategies to cure Cystic Fibrosis disease.
