Pierre-Régis Burgel, MD, PhD (he/him/his)

Pierre-Régis Burgel is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Cochin Hospital/Université Paris Cité, France. His unit follows 650 adults with CF, including 120 with previous lung transplantation. He is the national coordinator of the French Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Reference Centre Network (47 CF centres), the President of the French CF Society, and an associate editor of the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis and the European Respiratory Journal. He was awarded the 2022 Mid-Career Gold Medal in Cystic Fibrosis from the European Respiratory Society. He is also member of the Steering Committee of the French CF Registry and member of the Scientific Committee of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society Patient Registry. Professor Burgel is leading the French National Adult real wordl study on elexacaftor-tezacaftor-ivacaftor (2500 adults with CF in 31 centers) and is the principal investigator of the French Compassionate Program for elexacaftor-tezacaftor-ivacaftor in people with CF with non-Phe508del CFTR variants. He has published over 320 articles in the field of chronic airway diseases including CF, bronchiectasis and COPD.
