Marie E. Egan is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale University and the Director of the Yale Cystic Fibrosis Center. She received her B.A. with honors from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.D. from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society She completed her pediatric residency and her Pediatric Pulmonary training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital before joining the faculty at Yale. She serves on numerous national committees and boards to advance the lung health of children including the American Thoracic Society, The American Board of Pediatrics, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, as well as having served as the Membership Secretary for the Society of Pediatric Research. She has a long standing track record of funding from a variety of funding agencies including the National Institutes of Health (N.I.H), the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Hartwell Foundation, the American Lung Association and the March of Dimes. Dr. Egans primary research interest is CFTR physiology. Her research focuses on the regulation of ion transport across epithelia in CF, as well as the role of CFTR in the inflammatory response. Lastly, her lab is interested in correcting the basic defect.
