Phoenix Children's Hospital
Katie Whitley RN, BSN is the Nurse Program Coordinator for the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. She graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 2007 from Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona. That same year she began working at Banner University Medical Center- Phoenix on the pulmonary unit where she quickly began to develop a passion for caring for patients with CF. In 2011 she graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Around this time she began partnering with the outpatient CF clinic to improve inpatient care for adult CF patients including collaboration with multiple departments to develop a CF order set and admission protocol. In 2013 she became the program coordinator for the adult CF program at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, one of the largest CF centers in the Mountain West Region. She was the recipient of the Banner Good Samaritan Nursing Award for Contribution to Patients in 2013 and was a finalist for the Arizona March of Dimes Nurse of the Year award in 2012 for the “Patient Care- Clinical Nurse Role” category and again in 2020 for the ”Care Coordination” category. In 2022 she joined the NACFC Program Planning Committee (PPC) and in 2024 she took over as Chair of the PPC for Nursing. She currently resides in Phoenix Arizona with her husband and two children.
