The CF airways present a complex environment with multiple microorganisms, cells and signaling molecules of the host defense, which try to eradicate or suppress these intruders. This session will address new models to study the host-pathogen interaction using new techniques, more suitable animals or defined media.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the needs for using appropriate in vitro models.
  • Distinguish the benefits of the one or the other model.
  • Discuss problems of in vitro versus the in vivo.
