LL06--Smart & a Little Scattered: Assessing & Intervening for Success

This session will explore executive functioning (EF) deficits in youth through adults with advanced lung disease. Speakers will address multiple sources of EF deficits as well as clinical assessment, patient education and brief interventions that may be offered in a clinic setting. Additionally, patient and caregiver perspectives of managing the diagnosis of CF will be included.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain several possible etiologies of executive function deficits in youth and adults living with CF.
  • Describe several widely used intervention strategies for supporting patients and their families in a clinic setting, especially in managing their CF care.
  • Review the bidirectional influence of mood and health habits (e.g. sleep, exercise, diet, stress management) on cognitive function.
